INTRODUCTION
Day Break Advocacy Champions is a duly registered non-governmental organization
that formed in 2024 and registered in 2025. It is dedicated to promoting responsible
citizenship founded on the core ideals of Zambia’s independence in 1964—Unity,
Love, Peace, Freedom, Justice, Hard work and Resilience and the spirit of “One
Zambia, One Nation . The program draws its name from the
Zambian currency, Kwacha Ngwee, where “Kwacha” symbolizes dawn or daybreak
and “Ngwee” signifies brightness, together representing a complete or full daybreak.
This renaming of the currency in 1968 following independence from colonial rule
aimed to align Zambia’s identity with its newfound autonomy.

THE GAUGE PROJECT
As Zambia approaches the 2026 General Elections, the political climate is highly
charged. While democratic contestation is healthy, it is often accompanied by political
misinformation, voter apathy, and a limitation in structured platforms for public
accountability.
Zambian elections are increasingly threatened by misinformation on social media and
other platforms amidst unchecked political rhetoric. This creates polarized
communities, suppresses voter turnout due to disillusionment, and denies the
electorate the opportunity to make informed choices based on the tangible track
records and manifestos of candidates.
THE SOLUTION: “THE GAUGE” INITIATIVE (PROJECT)
To mitigate these challenges, Day Break Advocacy Champions has designed a
robust media and grassroots intervention called The Gauge Project. It will
implement a series of activities in selected districts of Zambia before , during and after the 2026 general elections.
